"Highly Recommend Him"

-Peter Busalacchi

"Robert Romero has been the club coach for two of my daughters and I would highly recommend him as a trainer. Even after one of my daughters switched to a different club, she still comes back to Robert for private training.

There are several qualities that make Robert a great coach and trainer, but one that stands out is that he will not stand for mediocrity and will point out mistakes, both mental and physical, immediately while on the field so that corrective measures can be taken. I’ve seen both my daughters, as well as entire teams raise their level of play after Robert takes over as their coach.

This year, one of my daughters played against a Robert Romero coached team for the first time and as expected, his team was well prepared, disciplined, in top physical shape and executed on the field as we thought they would. I can say without hesitation that club practice days are not enough. Robert’s private training has been instrumental in the improvement of my daughter’s level of play so that she can play at the highest level of club competition as well as impress college coaches to eventually play at the next level."

"True Development Coach"

-Debbie Creighton

"Coach Romero is by far one of the best technical coaches my daughter has trained with. He brings demanding drills and clear expectations. My daughter never wants to miss a training day with him.

Coach Romero has not only improved her physical game but her mental game as well. He is very dedicated in teaching his players on how to get to the next level. He is extremely knowledgeable and stresses the importance of developing individual skills while still focusing on correcting mistakes and techniques.

He is a true development coach and I believe his training with my fifteen year old daughter is why she is receiving numerous offers to play D1 college soccer."

Our Story

Born in 1972 in San Diego, Robert was raised in the East county in the small town of Lakeside. He started playing soccer at the age of 4, and though he was introduced to numerous other sports, immediately fell in love with the sport. He went on to be a varsity starter as a freshman at El Capitan High School in Lakeside and became an all-league, all-CIF central midfielder who captained his side for 3 years.

After graduating in 1990, he went on and played at Point Loma Nazarene College on a full ride soccer scholarship. He finished his freshman year as rookie of the year. After his sophomore season, he left the school to go and play for the San Diego Sockers. Unfortunately, the Major Indoor Soccer League folded in 1992/93, and though he played professionally, 2 years for the San Diego Top Guns and a year with the Sockers in 2001, coaching became his passion starting in 1989 as a 17/18 year old kid.

His first stint came as a club coach with USA Soccer Club for a year and then moved onto Crusaders. In that time, Robert became assistant coach at El Capitan High School, his Alma mater for 2 years, and then took over as head coach in year 3. El Cap went on and won 4 league championships, a CIF Championship, and a runner up in my last year there. He then went on to Coronado High School as an assistant for two years at Coronado High School before taking a long hiatus from the high school game until the 2015-16 season to take on the girls varsity soccer program at West Hills High School in Santee. The team went on to compile a 17-1-9 record giving up only 9 goals, being crowned league champs, losing in the semi-finals in PKs, and finishing with a #1 ranking for division 2. In the 2016-17 season, finished 2nd in league, again a #1 ranking for division 2, and finalists in CIF. West Hills High School has arrived!

As a club coach, Robert has been coaching for 28 years with stints at USA, CSC, Hotspurs, San Diego Surf, and San Diego United Futbol Club.

Upon all his years coaching, Robert's philosophy has always been about developing players in a positive but constructive way to heighten their belief/ confidence to become a player that is not just fundamentally sound, but can think for themselves while dealing with the several moments and demands of the game. About 7 years ago Robert started up Romero Trained, which is small group training for younger, high school aged, and college players to give them something more outside of their club or team practices. He has worked with several kids from several different clubs and his clientele has grown in the 100's!

Robert now, would like to open up Football's Everything Wharehouse, or F.E.W. A place where players can come train, or be trained to enhance their ability and overall growth in the sport.. "Unlike Any Coach"

-Taylor Gomez

"Coach Robert has a passion for the game, unlike any coach I have ever seen. He truly cares about each and every one of his players and does all that he can for our improvement.

Coach Robert always brings energy and enthusiasm to his training sessions, along with his helpful drills and information. It has been an amazing privilege to learn from him and to be able to call him my coach. "

"They Have a Great Time"

"My two kids, age 8 and 10, have been attending Robert's training sessions for over two years. They love going and working with Robert and the other kids. Both of my kid’s soccer skills have improved tremendously over the last two years and Robert's training is a large part of their improvement.

Their confidence has been increasing as well as their skill. Your kids get a chance to have Robert evaluate their weaknesses and help them to improve in these areas. And they have a great time too! No matter your skill level, I would highly recommending attending these sessions."
